Growing up, visiting her in Indiana meant heading straight to the freezer to see if any snack mix was hiding in there — and you truly had to check everything. It might be in a Ziploc, or it might be in a coffee tin or butter tub.
At home with my mom, we would make huge batches every holiday season — giving it to neighbors, sharing it with friends, and snacking on it nonstop. Even when she got too old to cook, we’d mail small batches to Florence in Indiana to keep the tradition going.
